Based on true events, the unbelievable story parallels the rise to success of Harlem Heroin Kingpin, Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington), and the man who eventually brings him down, New York Detective, Ritchie Roberts (Russell Crowe). Both actors in stunning performances slide into their characters skin with convincing ease. The Vietnam War and widespread NY police corruption are so important to the story that, by circumstance, are like living breathing characters in the film.
