Dark of the Moon – The Human Factor

Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon has now come and gone; and, with the conclusion of the Bay-directed franchise, that’s probably it for the current collection of actors – the major ones, anyway – so what better time to rate their performances than now? Shia Labeouf has already expressed his disinterest in rehashing the role of Sam Witwicky, stating that he “has nothing left to contribute to the character”. Perhaps a bigger paycheck (he made $10 million for Transformers 3) would convince him otherwise, as he does appear to be a fan favorite.

The Social Network Review – When Google Saved Facebook

The Social Network is a fascinating incursion into the minds of young men who invent stuff. In this case, it’s David Fincher’s, Aaron Sorkin’s and Ben Mezrich’s minds. The director, screenwriter and book writer of the movie concoct a wild, “I caught a Russian speaking fish!” story about Internet site Facebook.

Rio – Movie Review

Rio is about good things we have in this world; the love, the beauty, the music and the emotions. It is a light hearted fun filled movie with spectacular visuals.

The History of Optimus Prime – Transformers

The Transformers have graced our eyes since the 80s as a toy and cartoon phenom up until the movies that are out today. For those that don’t know about them, here’s a quick brief history about them. They are a collective unit of huge robots that come from the planet Cybertron.

Movie Review: Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)

After all the theatrical features, multiple TV shows, documentaries, remakes, comics, action figures and more, having all seemingly fizzled out by the early 2000s, it’s odd that 20th Century Fox would try and reboot this franchise with a prequel – of sorts. While the film certainly isn’t necessary, it attempts to fill in the details (as opposed to bridging a gap) on the uprising of an intelligent ape takeover of Earth. To anyone unfamiliar with the major ideas in the Planet of the Apes series, this new chapter will make little sense and seem largely pointless, especially as it ramps…

Movie Review: The Change-Up (2011)

The Change-Up jumps right into bizarre, foul humor to lure audiences in with pure shock. CG babies are employed for uncomfortable laughs, especially as one unloads his bowels into the mouth of an unsuspecting father or rapidly beats his head against the bars of a crib like something out of The Exorcist. Bathroom jokes are taken to the extreme, hoping that raunchiness will smoothly replace cleverness.

The Hour: Quality Drama From the BBC With Romola Garai, Ben Wishaw and Dominic West

It’s 1956 and there are important questions to be asked. Do we live in a democracy – or do we only think we do? A compelling cast of characters attend the birth of quality television news, as the Suez crisis marks the end of Empire. Murder, sex, and politics make a fine cocktail in this six-part series from the BBC that asks us to consider whether all that much has changed.

A Review of Beats, Rhymes and Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest

I am a sucker for performance documentaries. There is always the music, art or comedy to lean on if the style or structure is otherwise weak. However, that was not the case with “Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest.” The story telling in this documentary about the legendary rap group was well crafted, visually interesting and insightful. And, the music made me run to download songs from iTunes as soon as the film was over.
